On April 22, 2010, the EPA RRP rule became effective and firms performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities and schools built before 1978 must be certified. Individual renovators must be trained by an EPA-accredited training provider and the firms and renovators must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination. All of Northwood Construction’s Project Managers, Production Director and President successfully completed Certified Renovator training in 2010. The purpose of the rule and required training is to prevent hazardous lead dust and chips created during remodeling demolition from harming workers, ocupants of the property and especially young children.
