Walker Residence
Susan Walker says she started missing her Northwood Construction crew almost as soon as they were done remodeling her kitchen.
Customers since 1998, the Walkers had previously hired Northwood on two separate projects, including an extension to their family room, and the construction of a screened-in porch where a deck had stood. When Susan decided it was time to take on the remodeling of her 20-year-old kitchen, she knew she wanted to be closely involved in the planning from the beginning. “I really did my homework,” she says, “going around to showrooms comparing samples to find the look we wanted.”
She also knew she wanted Northwood to do the work — and began discussing her plans and vision with Northwood staff. “They were very receptive to my ideas,” she recalls, “and made thoughtful recommendations for materials and other aspects of my plan.” When plans were finalized and an estimate was agreed upon, construction began.
“The installation was awesome,” Susan recalls. “They were very dependable, came every day, and always cleaned up before they left. And their electrician and other subcontractors were just as good.” She also recalls how easy it was to work with Chris, her project manager, throughout the process. “Some evenings, I’d agonize over a certain detail in the plan that I really wanted to change — and the next day I’d mention it to Chris, and he’d just say, ‘Fine.’”
Throughout the project, Susan interacted often with the construction crew and subcontractors, as well as office staff. “Every one of their team was really a pleasure to work with. I’ve highly recommended Northwood to many friends.”
