Ed and Marge LaClare have been loyal Northwood customers almost from the day the company opened its doors. In 1988, the LaClares hired Northwood to replace an old deck attached to their 1970s-era home in Vienna, Virginia. To accommodate a serious allergic condition of one member of the LaClare household, Northwood custom-designed and built a deck using only non-pressure-treated redwood.
The results were just what the LaClares were hoping for … so, a few years later, when they discovered evidence of a leak in one of their bathrooms, they hired Northwood to diagnose and fix the problem. Ultimately they decided to completely gut and replace their three aging bathrooms, which Northwood planned and executed — again, using only carefully selected materials and processes that would prevent health issues.
Having found a construction company on which they could rely, the LaClares have continued using Northwood and Northwood subcontractors exclusively through the years — converting a carport to a garage, replacing their roof, windows and doors, replacing carpeting with tile work throughout the house, and most recently designing and building a brand new kitchen. During some of the larger projects, the LaClares left on vacation or temporarily lived elsewhere. “Whenever we’ve needed to be gone,” recalls Marge, “we’ve trusted Northwood with our house and all our belongings. They’re completely responsible.”
“I know what the experts advise about getting multiple estimates,” adds Ed, “but Northwood has been a great company to work with. They also stand behind their work, and they’re not satisfied with the end product until we are. That’s why we never ask for quotes from anyone else — Northwood does quality work at a very reasonable price.”
